She soon meets her first client, Paul (Jacob Tierney), who isn’t anything like she expected. He’s normal. So normal that she decides to go back to his house with him to continue their strange, sexually-charged role play. Their soirée is interrupted by a trio of criminals who believe Paul has a half million of their money.

When Paul refuses to confess, the men go to work on him, beating him savagely. LARS AND THE REAL GIRL

LARS AND THE REAL GIRL

The Story:
Lars Lindstrom (Ryan Gosling) a loveable introvert whose emotional baggage has kept him from fully embracing life. Despite his unsocial behavior, or maybe because of it, Lars is well liked by everyone in the small, wintry Wisconsin-or-maybe-Minnesota town where the film is set. His co-workers at his undefined cubicle-based job include him in their activities. One in particular, Margo (Kelli Garner), tries to ask him on dates, but Lars is impervious to hints.

Then Lars' shipment arrives, he invites Bianca, a Brazilian/Danish missionary he met online who has to get around in a wheelchair. He introduces Bianca to his Brother Gus (Paul Schneider) and his wife Karen (Emily Mortimer) and they are stunned.

They don’t know what to say to Lars or Bianca — because she is a a fully dressed, anatomically correct, life-size silicone doll, not a real person and he is treating her as though she is alive. They consult the family doctor Dagmar (Patricia Clarkson) who explains this is a delusion he’s created — for what reason she doesn’t yet know but they should all go along with it.

And so the entire town goes along with it. They pretend Bianca is as real as Lars seems to think she is. Bianca gets a part-time job as a mannequin at the mall. She volunteers at the hospital by "reading" to sick children. (The nurses prop a book in her hands and turn on the audiobook version.) Only a few townspeople are initially skeptical, and that dissolves over time.

Ryan Gosling, Emily Mortimer, Paul Schneider, Kelli Garner, Patricia Clarkson, Nancy Beatty, Maxwell McCabe-Lokos, Karen Robinson.
