THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO
The Story:
Crusading journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist ) is heading for prison after losing a big-time defamation case, but before he's locked up he's offered a bit of freelance investigating work from Henrik Vanger (Sven-Bertil Taube) who inhabits a gloomy mansion on a remote island and broods about the loss of his beloved niece Harriet (Ewa Froling). She vanished one day when the island was cut off from the mainland. Her body was never found. Because the access bridge was blocked, the killer must have been a member of Vanger's large and greedy family, which he hates. Three brothers were Nazi sympathizers during the war.
He believes that the killer is taunting him and he wants to know who's sending him mementoes that only the dead girl knew about, but while Mikael is good at old-fashioned investigating he's not so flash with computers - which is where the titular girl Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace) a quiet 24-year-old Goth tomboy with an introverted personality, that ol’ Troubled Past chestnut and an expert ability to get dirt on her professional victims, mostly by hacking their computers, comes in.

THE DISAPPEARANCE OF ALICE CREED
THE DISAPPEARANCE OF ALICE CREED
The Story:
Two men — one in his twenties, the other nearer forty, both intensely focused on the task at hand — line the inside of a transit van with plastic. Shopping, they buy a drill, mattress and other supplies. In a small flat they assemble a bed for the mattress and staple foam insulation and board to the walls and windows of a bedroom. Then, their meticulous preparations complete, they kidnap a young woman. They drag her from the street into the back of the van and, with a bag over her head and ball gag in her mouth, take her back to the flat, tying her to the bed in the room they have converted into a prison cell.
The kidnappers are Danny (Martin Compston) and Vic (Eddie Marsan), two ex—cons planning to make a mint on the ransom for the young woman. The younger, nervier of the two, Danny defers to the more experienced Vic, who acts with a steely conviction. Their hostage is Alice Creed (Gemma Arterton), daughter of a rich businessman, chosen by Vic and Danny as their passport to a better life. Terrified and immobile at first, it soon becomes clear that Alice isn’t about to let her captors use her as capital without a fight. As determined to escape as Vic and Danny are to succeed, Alice enters into a battle of wills which strains the already fractious relationship between the two men. As the deadline for the exchange draws nearer, all three are brought close to breaking point, with Vic and Danny’s foolproof plan descending into a desperate struggle for survival.

YOU DON'T KNOW JACK
The Story:
In 1990, Dr. Jack Kevorkian (aka Dr. Death), assisted in more than 130 suicides. After willingly sending a videotape of himself euthanizing a terminally ill man to "60 Minutes," he was convicted in 1999 of second-degree murder and spent eight years in prison before getting paroled in 2007. Loosely based on Neal Nicol and Harry Wylie's book "Between the Dying and the Dead: Dr. Jack Kevorkian's Life and the Battle to Legalize Euthanasia"
Dr. Jack Kevorkian (Al Pacino) was a 61-year-old former pathologist. Kevorkian launched his crusade to provide assisted suicide to people who are terminally ill, a procedure that he considered to be a humane and dignified option for for the end of life.
Kevorkian was assisted in his crusade by his friend Neal Nicol (John Goodman) and Kevorkian's older sister Margo Janus (Branda Vacarro), Kevorkian begins offering “death counseling” services to a growing clientele, seemingly grateful for his services. Kevorkian earned the support of Hemlock Society activist Janet Good (Susan Sarandon), but he also attracted the wrath of the county prosecutor’s office.

LE HERISSON (THE HEDGEHOG)
LE HERISSON (The HEDGEHOG) (France)
The Story:
Paloma (Garance Le Guillermica) precocious 11-years-old girl from a Parisian bourgeois family that she despises, and an intellectual concierge – Renée Michel – who hides books in a backroom and soothes loneliness by eating tons of chocolate. Paloma is a highly introspective girl who wittily analyses the vanity and mediocrity of the world she comes from, and is strongly determined not to be part of it. Paloma continuously sneaks away and hides in places where she cannot be found.
She casts an outsider look on her world by delivering ultra-critical existentialist observation on her family that, in turn, largely ignore her. That makes her a privileged observer of the vices and weaknesses of her family members who she films with her father's old Hi-8 in order to leave a documented legacy of the reasons why she will commit suicide on her 12th birthday. On the other side, Renée (Josiane Balasko), the concierge of the building where Paloma lives with her family – is a surly widow who makes any effort to match the stereotype of an ordinary concierge while she spends night reading novels in the backroom of her apartment whose door is closed throughout the day. Renée is aware that none of the snobbish tenants of the block would want an eccentric concierge, and that is why she prefers to go unnoticed. What both Paloma and Renée have in common is that they do not want glances to be casted on themselves. In fact, they both perceive that they can keep their space of liberty only by going unseen.
When Mr Kakoru Ozu (Togo Igawa), a sophisticated Japanese widower – moves in one of the apartments following the death of a former tenant, he detects Renée's cultured side and Paloma's wit at once. Through Mr Ozu's mediation, soon Paloma starts to perceive Renée as a potential ally and confidant. Slowly, Renée lets Paloma into her apartment and consents to be filmed for Paloma's documentary. At the same time, Renée starts a delicate love affair with Mr Ozu that literally transforms her. That is how we found out that the hedgehog of the title is Renée herself: “spiky on the outside, but elegant on the inside” as Paloma says to Mr Ozu. That very elegance will be determinant for Paloma's future decisions as her 12th birthday approaches.

SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD
The Story:
Immediately following the events of "Diary of the Dead," "Survival of the Dead," is the 6th film from George A. Romero to look at a world where humans are in the minority and the zombies rule.
On Plum Island off the coast of Delaware, two Irish families, the O'Flynns and the Muldoons, are continuing their lifelong feud by disagreeing on how zombies should be treated. Rascally O'Flynn (Kenneth Welsh) is all for blowing them to pieces, no matter that they were once members of the family. Stern Muldoon (Richard Fitzpatrick) believes they should be chained up and held to await the development of a cure.
The feud has exploded, and Muldoon puts O'Flynn onto a boat to return to the mainland. There, meanwhile, a small band of soldiers led by Sarge (Alan Van Sprang) has turned outlaw, robbing others to stay supplied with food and ammunition and reducing deadheads to dead bodies whenever they encounter them.
They are seeking a relative safe haven, and through a quick series of events, they end up going to Plum Island with the exiled, vengeful O'Flynn in tow, little knowing that besides having deadheads to worry about they are now heading into a violent turf war.
