LONDON RIVER
The Story:
Two people, a Muslim man and a Christian woman, who are immediately affected by the July 2005 London bombings.
Set in the tragic aftermath of the terrorist bombings on July 7, 2005. Elisabeth Sommers (Brenda Blethyn) as she stumbles onto the life of a daughter she knew very little. Her search through London is paralleled to that of Ousmane (Sotigui Kouyate), an African living in France who has not laid eyes on his son since he was six. While Elisabeth stays in her daughter's apartment in a Muslim neighborhood, Ousmane camps out in a cheap hotel. Their first meeting ends with Elizabeth irrationally believing he knows where her daughter is and calling the police.
As their paths continue to overlap, Elisabeth's fear and distaste of Ousmane slowly melts, with differing religious backgrounds, these strangers find themselves united in the city of London, and linked by a shared tragedy: each has lost touch with a child amid the attacks - Mrs. Sommers, a daughter named Jane and Ousmane, a son named Ali - and it so happens that the two were dating. Together, the couple begin combing the city and searching for their loved ones - bound by a hope that both children survive
